| Debussy | La Mer |
| Poulenc | Concerto for organ, strings and timpani David Pipe, organ |
| Bartók | Concerto for Orchestra |
Three great works from the first half of the twentieth century. Debussy’s evocation of the sea is one of the great impressionist masterpieces: Poulenc’s organ concerto is equally unique in its kaleidoscopic shifts of mood; angry, tender and jocular by turns. Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra is a wonderful orchestral showpiece: as its title implies there are plentiful opportunities for instrumental display.
