Debussy La Mer
Poulenc Concerto for organ, strings and timpani David Pipe, organ
Bartók Concerto for Orchestra

David PipeThree great works from the first half of the twentieth century. Debussy’s evocation of the sea is one of the great impressionist masterpieces: Poulenc’s organ concerto is equally unique in its kaleidoscopic shifts of mood; angry, tender and jocular by turns. Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra is a wonderful orchestral showpiece: as its title implies there are plentiful opportunities for instrumental display.
