Saturday 11 November 2006 - 7.30pmSt Mark's, Broomhill
| Elgar | Falstaff |
| Vaughan Williams | A London Symphony |
Two great English composers writing about two of England's great institutions: Shakespeare's complex, larger-than-life
anti-hero, and the English capital itself. By coincidence, both works were completed in 1913, and thus are products of that remarkable period of activity in all manner of the arts which was cruelly cut short by the advent of the Great War. To hear the two in the same concert is to experience Elgar and Vaughan Williams at their magnificent best: truly a wonderful opportunity for all lovers of British music!
