Saturday 1st April 2006 - 7.30pmSt Mark's, Broomhill
| Chausson | Symphony in B flat' |
| Debussy | Danse Sacrée et Danse Profane Lucy Wakeford, harp |
| Ravel | Bolero |
| Berlioz | Overture 'Le Carnaval Romain' |
An all-French programme, beginning with the charming and colourful symphony by Chausson, similar in style to the more familiar symphony of César Franck. Following on from this Lucy Wakeford makes a welcome return to play the Debussy Dances for solo harp and strings, and then an opportunity to experience a live performance of Ravel's Bolero. Love it or loathe it, this colossal crescendo for huge orchestra will be all the more memorable for being seen as well as heard! The concert ends with Berlioz's scintillating overture based on themes from his opera 'Benevenuto Cellini'.
